Telecommuting Implementation
TCR believes that RTAP Phase IV must be defined to meet the unique needs of the community. Nevertheless, there are several generic tools that typically would apply to most communities, i.e.,:
- COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP-
- Telework Deployment Partnership- Comprised of organizations that will benefit from a strong telework program in the region, it would include product and service providers, transportation planners and user groups
- Bandwidth Collaborative- comprised of those organizations that would benefit from enhanced bandwidth service in the region it would include the technology providers, the telecommuting application developers and the neighborhoods to represent the users.
- Neighborhoods for Technology- comprised of those that would like to see their neighborhoods enjoy a higher quality of life, the participants would include neighborhood leaders, community service clubs and social service organizations
- IMPLEMENTATION PROGRAMS
- Telecommuting Plan Element- Just as there are elements in the Comprehensive Planning process for transportation, recreation etc., so too should there be one for the telecommunications infrastructure (including a section on telecommuting).
- Residential Telecommuting Certification- As more and more individuals actually work from home, this certification is awarded by the housing inspector to those homes that have met the standards for a telework environment.
- EVENTS
- CBD Design Competition- based upon the vision that is defined in RTAP Phase III, this downtown Design Competition would explore how these powerful regional resources can benefit from the Information Age and how the transition from the current environment would evolve into an around-the-clock activity center for the region.
