THE CHALLENGE
The challenge for rural communities is how to create a "Critical Mass" to change the focus to the emerging trends rather than focusing on those of the past 50 years. For urban communities, the challenge is to grasp the corporate concept of "right sizing" their communities. By sharing their growth with their economic region, they will grow ever stronger.
TCR's Visioning Process has been developed to support a dialogue with the urban and rural communities and more importantly, between them.

VIABILITY STRATEGIES
In a global society the concept of community transcends the political definitions of city, county and state and takes on the broader concept of economic networks with interconnected 'places to live'. While many jobs continue to require a proximity between work-and-home the technologic revolution of the Information Age increasingly allows people to choose where they wish to live. The challenge addressed by TCR is how do communities leverage this growing fact into a strategy to build their own viability?
The Distributed City Model- (DCM) has defined a strategic approach to integrating communities across economic regions. It raises questions about community balance, collaboration, diversity and investment strategies. TCR's e-Consensus Forum ® was created to support a dialogue about how best to resolve these important questions while enhancing the "quality of life". The Community Typology Forum is but one such discussion. |

IMPLEMENTATION
For a community to become Information Age Friendly it must affordably acquire access to the empowering systems and ensure that everyone is engaged. TCR's Bandwidth Collaborative Feasibility Audit determines the needs and the opportunities within the community and the degree to which that can be implemented.
For those communities with a Comprehensive Plan, the addition of a is a beginning. For those rural communities with development pressure, the pro-active nature of TCR's
Res-Tech Zoning District safeguards the local infrastructure and the environment while providing new development options. And for metro areas, the Regional Telecommuting Audit Project comprehensively moves the community from understanding the potential benefits of the Information Age to defining a strategy for making the potential a regional reality.
For those organizations interested in this concept, TCR has developed a plan to build a prototype network. The plan calls for a minimum of 5 Trade Centers, that are willing to meet the selection criteria, to collaborate using the e-Consensus Forum ®. A broader involvement would be desired using the Community Alliance.
The degree to which you are willing to embrace change is directly related to the degree to which you will accomplish change.
